Handicrafts at Lucy's House

Are you interested in having the opportunity to learn handicrafts where Lucy Lake, Hudson's first seamstress/tailoress, ran her business for 34 years? Classes will begin this fall and will be taught by a local Hudson High School Senior. Students can sign-up for one or more at a time. Classes will be taught on crocheting or knitting and there will be an option for either a class on basic skills and how-to for complete beginners, or follow-along classes where the class will complete a project together with guidance from the instructor. Ages 8+, but any age is welcome. Advanced classes will be available for skilled, adult crocheters interested in making follow along projects as well.
Crochet (Ages 8+)
Beginner: Skills
Students start out with techniques such as hook grip, magic rings, slip knots, slip stitches, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, and increase/decrease stitches.

Beginner: Critters
Each student will follow along with guidance from the instructor as they create their very own amigurumi animal. Every class, students will learn a new animal, so students can continue learning and improving while creating a collection of cute creatures as they do.

Advanced
Students with more developed crochet skills will follow along with instructor to create more advanced projects such as hats, scrunchies, pouches, handbags, and other useful and fun patterns.

Knitting (Ages 8+)
Beginner
Students will learn basic knitting skills like casting on, knitting, purling, and casting off. Students will also create a simple and easy project all in one class!
